LCOS Technology with AISYS
With Canon LCOS projectors, you get all the brilliance and image sharpness of innovative LCOS technology, but in an ultra-portable and affordable projector unlike any others on the market. It's the right choice for displaying bright, big-screen images without darkening the conference room or classroom.
LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) has taken projectors to a whole new level. This new technology means higher resolution images, seamless images with no flickering or "screen door" effect, quick image response for better looking moving images, smooth rendition of fine lines, seamless photo reproduction, sharp display of small text, and crisp blacks.

LCD DLP LCOS
LCD: Circuitry around each pixel creates screen door effect.
DLP: Space between micro-mirrors causes screen door effect.
LCOS: Circuitry behind panels virtually eliminates screen door effect.
But only Canon realizes the full potential of LCOS technology by combining it with our proprietary and improved 3rd generation AISYS Engine, patented optical light engine for achieving brightness, and high contrast using LCOS panels. AISYS has three components: the illumination system; the color separation and combination system; and the LCOS panels. Only Canon's innovative, breakthrough AISYS technology achieves the right balance of contrast, brightness and compact size to maximize the performance of LCOS. Plus, our new advanced AISYS optical engine features new optical elements, redesigned polarizing beam splitters, and a reconfigured optical layout. The result is improved light efficiency, uniformity and expanded color space.

LCD LCOS
LCD: Grid like pixel pattern known as the "Screen Door Effect".
LCOS: Lattice free, seamless image when LCOS is combined with AISYS.

DLP LCOS
DLP: Color appears blurred and broken.
LCOS: Color appears crisp and sharp.
With the new AC lamp system of the Canon Realis sx80 Mark II projector and the AISYS optical system the images you project are brighter, with truer color. The purity of red and green is enhanced over that which is possible with conventional DC lamps, giving a more life like depth to the colors on the screen. In addition, the new lamp system boasts an extended operating life, up to 2000 hours in normal mode and up to 2500 hours in quiet mode.
LCOS technoogy combined with an improved 3rd generation AISYS optical engine, the new AC lamp system, and 3000 lumens make the Canon Realis sx80 Mark ii projector a superb high performance projector like no other.
Native SXGA+ Resolution (1400 x 1050)
To match the increasing demand for high resolution display technology, the Canon Realis sx80 Mark II projector features high resolution SXGA, perfect for displaying crisp video, photographs, fine text, spreadsheets, CAD drawings, and engineering diagrams. Compared to XGA, it offers a significantly larger display range capable of reproducing even the smallest details with razor sharp precision. In addition to your PC or MAC, the Canon Realis sx80 Mark II supports data produced on your wide screen laptop, projecting the entire screen in its true proportions, just as it appears on your laptop.
Better Resolution: Crisp, clear display of text and diagrams.
Resolution is approximately 1.9x greater than conventional XGA projectors, making it possible to reproduce text as small as 5 point. Even word processor documents with small text and figures are clear and easy to read.

XGA SXGA+
Expanded Display Area: A trend of the future
High resolution SXGA+ (1400 x 1050 pixel) projectors are compatible with current mainstream desktop computer SXGA (1280 x 1024), more prevalent wide notebook computer WXGA (1280 x 768 pixel) display images, as well as 16:9 high definition (1280 x 720 pixel) images.
Widescreen Views
The Canon Realis sx80 Mark II projector can reproduce widescreen data as is, with no unsightly distortion. When data produced on a PC with WXGA display resolution is projected using an XGA projector, data must be reworked to match the aspect ratio to achieve an accurate display. With an SXGA+ multimedia projector, PC based data can be projected accurately, with no need for time consuming adjustments.
3000 Lumens
The Canon Realis sx80 Mark II projector projects with 3000 Lumens, delivering incredible image quality and brightness using the 3rd generation AISYS Optical Engine's new AC lamp system. The 900:1 contrast ratio ensures deep blacks and bright whites. Pure, high contrast color reproduction creates images with crisp depth and dimension, ideally suited for conveying texture and materials. Colors remain crisp, with superior color balance, perfect for presentations incorporating high quality visuals.

AISYS-based sx80 mark ii Projector: Reproduces fine details of texture and materials.
Newly designed 1.5x Zoom Lens
The Canon Realis sx80 mark ii projector has a new 1.5x zoom lens suppresses the distortion of images to the maximum extent. Made possible by a lens design technology Canon has accumulated in the past, the new realis SX80 Mark II projector is able to project images more faithfully.
The lens also features a 10:0 lens offset, which maintains the lower edge of projected images matching the optical axis of the lens. This permits projection of high-quality images without the deterioration in image quality caused by keystone correction.
You can easily change the screen size to accommodate various venues and/or applications. It is now easier to set up the projector perpendicular to the screen without having to tilt the projector, or use the keystone correction.
Photo Mode
Ambient light can cause changes in the accuracy of the colors being projected. The Canon Realis sx80 Mark II projector Photo Mode allows you to make adjustments to the projectors color temperature and color level*, based on the lighting condition of the room. This feature makes it possible to accurately reproduce color, and provide faithful reproduction of changes in contrast even on a large screen inside a bright room. Images projected onto the screen are as close to the actual work as possible

Without Photo Mode With Photo Mode
Without Photo Mode: The dark section looks blackish and intensity levels are not assigned accurately.
With Photo Mode: Specific details of shapes and difference in colors can be visible to the naked eye.
Fine adjustments can also be made in accordance with various environment lights, such as incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, and brighter and darker room conditions. Accordingly, accurate image reproduction can be made on a large screen, with a quality similar to the image displayed on an sRGB monitor.
This feature is particularly useful when displaying photography in a studio, wedding center, art museum, or a gallery. All adjusted values can be saved in Photo Mode.
*Adjustments to color temperature and color level can not be made if the projector is set to DICOM or another image mode.
